The major benefit of using LED lights instead of traditional lighting is that they are far more efficient. Roughly 80% of the electricity from an LED light is converted in to light however with a traditional light, only 20% of the electricity is converted in to light. This means that you spend less money on electricity costs for the same amount of light! The operational life of LED lights also extends way beyond that of traditional light bulbs, which helps make LED lights even more efficient, saving you even more money.
Due to the way LEDs convert electricity into light, even low voltage power supplies are suitable to use. This can be extremely useful if you're running lighting from a generator, or from solar panels which could not produce the electricity required to power standard bulbs for any length of time. LEDs are extremely energy efficient and consume up to 90% less power than incandescent bulbs. Since LEDs use only a fraction of the energy of an incandescent light bulb there is a dramatic decrease in power costs.
LED lights are far more durable than standard light bulbs, with most having an operational life of ~100,000 hours. Whilst normal light bulbs will burn out after a period of use, LEDs simply fade slowly with time, and therefore last a lot longer than traditional bulbs meaning that you don't need to replace them as often.
Low UV Output
LEDs are also known for their low output of ultraviolet light, meaning that they can be used in business premises to light rooms, warehouses or factories containing materials that are sensitive to UV radiation. They are also far more suitable for other sensitive areas, such as schools, museums and art galleries. Traditional bulbs emit a large amount of UV radiation and so are not suitable for these purposes.
LEDs are far more environmentally friendly than traditional light bulbs. Whilst many other types of light bulbs contain harmful or toxic chemicals like mercury, LED lights are free from anything that can harm the environment. They are also more durable too, which means they save on materials and production.
